Rachel Miziolekk and Amelia Luschak

About their project

Rachel and Amelia decided to go for a more non-traditional donation item. They educated themselves on the global vision care crisis by collecting used glasses of any kind. They sent them to Onesight, a non-profit organization that travels to third world countries and provides eyecare exams for those who cannot afford them. Rachel and Amelia collected glasses to send to them that can be recycled and make money to create new glasses.

Their Goals

  • to educate everyone they could about the global vision crisis

  • collect at least 25 pairs of glasses

  • advertise and raise awareness on the lack of vision care in many countries

They went to their dance and skating clubs, talking to and sharing information with many people successfully. They collected about 30 pairs of glasses, exceeding their goals, and sending them off to the organization.

They both learned a lot about the importance of vision and managed to spread the word very easily.
